How LucyAI Works

HiLucy Team·Updated 2026-04-17·2 min read

LucyAI is HiLucy's AI-powered guest concierge. Unlike basic chatbot systems that rely on canned responses, Lucy uses advanced AI to have natural, contextual conversations with your guests.

Architecture

LucyAI is built on a Supervisor + Specialized Assistants pattern:

  • Supervisor — Routes guest messages to the right specialist
  • Booking Assistant — Handles reservation inquiries, modifications, and new bookings
  • Local Expert — Recommends restaurants, activities, and attractions using property-specific knowledge
  • Property Info — Answers questions about amenities, policies, check-in/out times, WiFi, etc.
  • Concierge — Handles special requests, complaints, and general conversation

Adaptive RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation)

Lucy doesn't just generate responses — she searches your property's knowledge base first. This includes:

  • Property descriptions and amenity details
  • Local area guides and recommendations
  • House rules and policies
  • FAQ content
  • Historical guest interactions

The knowledge base is powered by Pinecone vector search, which means Lucy finds relevant information even when the guest doesn't use exact keywords.

Multi-Language Support

Lucy automatically detects the guest's language and responds accordingly. No configuration needed — she supports 50+ languages natively.

Automatic Escalation

When Lucy encounters a situation she can't handle, she automatically escalates to your team:

  • Complex complaints or disputes
  • Requests that require physical action (maintenance, deliveries)
  • Payment issues or billing disputes
  • Any conversation where the guest explicitly asks for a human

Escalated conversations appear in your Communication Hub with full context.

WhatsApp Integration

Lucy communicates primarily via WhatsApp — the world's most popular messaging platform. Guests don't need to download an app or create an account. They simply message your property's WhatsApp number.

See WhatsApp Setup for configuration details.
