Lucy Chat and Discovery

HiLucy Team·Actualizado 2026-04-26·3 min read

Lucy is the AI concierge built into the Guest Portal. She can answer questions, find things for you, and even place orders on your behalf. The Rental Finder uses her as a parallel discovery surface — sometimes asking is faster than browsing.

When to ask Lucy

  • Specific needs — "we're 4 adults and need scooters that fit a passenger"
  • Open-ended planning — "what should we do tomorrow afternoon if it rains?"
  • Logistical questions — "can the scooter be delivered to our hotel?"
  • Property-specific — "is the apartment pet-friendly?" "what's the wifi password?"
  • Comparison — "what's the difference between the Honda Wave and the Yamaha NMAX?"

Lucy reads from the same inventory the search uses, so her recommendations are always live.

How to open Lucy

  • Tap the chat icon (usually bottom-right) on any Guest Portal page
  • On a listing page, the Lucy button is typically larger and pre-scoped to that listing's context
  • If you're already in a chat, scroll up to see your full conversation history (within this session)

What you can do in chat

Type a message

The most common — type a question or request, hit send, get a response.

Voice input

Tap the microphone icon to dictate. Lucy transcribes and processes — useful when you're walking around and don't want to type.

Share location

Tap the location pin to share your current GPS coordinates. Lucy can use this for "what's nearest me?" queries.

Attach a file

Tap the attachment icon to send an image (e.g. a photo of a place you want to find) or a document (e.g. an itinerary).

The vector browser

Beneath the chat input is the vector browser — an AI-driven discovery surface that visualises related topics as a zoomable cloud:

  • Depth 0 — top-level categories (Rent, Eat, Do, Stay, etc.)
  • Depth 1 — facts and topics within a category (e.g. under "Rent": Scooters, Bikes, Boats)
  • Depth 2 — specific questions you can ask Lucy (e.g. "What's the cheapest scooter for 3 days?")

Click any word to either zoom in (going deeper) or send to Lucy directly (when the word represents an actionable question).

This is the lazy-mode discovery — instead of typing what you want, you just keep clicking until you find something interesting.

When the vector browser fails

If the AI service is briefly unreachable, the vector browser shows a fallback list of 6 evergreen prompts. Click any to start a conversation; you can then type freely from there.

Lucy and bookings

Lucy can help you book, but she'll always confirm before charging anything. Typical flow:

  1. You: "book me a scooter for tomorrow"
  2. Lucy: "Got it. Honda Wave 110 for tomorrow 9am-6pm — total $45. Confirm?"
  3. You: "yes"
  4. Lucy: presents a Stripe checkout link (a <RoomServiceLink /> card embedded in the chat)

Tap the link, complete checkout, and the booking is done. The confirmation is sent back into the chat.

Privacy note

Conversations are tied to your session (cookie or login). When you log in, your chat history persists across devices. When you don't, it's tied to the browser. Lucy never shares your conversations with other guests.
