Multi-vertical Experiences
The Rental Finder doesn't just show you rooms or just show you scooters. It shows you everything available in your area across every vendor and category — all in one search. This article explains the model and what it means for trip planning.
Two main types
Internally, every bookable thing falls into one of two categories:
- Rentals — things you take and return: scooters, dirtbikes, kayaks, golf carts, paddleboards, even hotel rooms (you "rent" a room for a stay)
- Activities / Experiences — things you do at a fixed time: yoga classes, tours, dining experiences, wellness sessions
The finder shows both, ranked together by relevance to your search.
Why this matters for trip planning
Imagine you're spending 4 days in Tulum:
- Day 1 — your hotel rental (KAN Tulum)
- Day 2 — a scooter rental from Ally / Rent a Scooter Tulum to explore
- Day 3 — a yoga class at sunrise + a dinner reservation
- Day 4 — return scooter, check out
All four bookings can come from one search session. You don't need to use Booking.com for the room, Airbnb for an apartment, a separate scooter rental site, and Klook for the tour. The Rental Finder federates them.
How it works behind the scenes
Every property that joins HiLucy automatically extends discovery for every other vendor in its area. So when KAN Tulum signs up, its guests get exposure to Ally's scooters, the local yoga studio's classes, partner restaurants, etc.
Vendors don't have to do anything special — opting in to HiLucy means appearing in the unified finder.
The Ally Tulum example
The canonical cross-vertical example is the Ally / Rent a Scooter Tulum partnership (April 2026). Every Tulum hotel that joins HiLucy:
- Auto-grants its guests access to Ally's scooters via the finder
- Earns affiliate commission on bookings
- Doesn't need to negotiate or onboard anything
For guests, this means you can search "scooter Tulum" and see Ally's inventory regardless of which hotel you booked through.
Filtering by type
If you only want one type:
- Search bar — type "scooter" or "yoga" — search returns only matches
- Categories (when shown) — pick "Rentals" or "Activities"
Otherwise, leave it open and let the relevance ranking surface the best matches.
Booking activities vs rentals
Both types use the same checkout, but the booking flow differs slightly:
- Rentals — pick dates, quantity, add-ons, delivery; you take possession
- Activities — pick a specific time slot (or class start time), number of guests; you turn up at a specified place
The product page adapts — for activities, you'll see a time-slot picker instead of a date range slider, and a "guests" field instead of "units".
